Around these here parts we hadn't seen blue sky for quite some time. We made a last minute decision to head south for the long weekend. I am so glad we did.
We weren't quite sure how to respond to the heat-but Christian is COOL all of the time.
We headed to Snow Canyon/the sand dunes. Obviously with a little memory lapse as to what happens when you heat sand to 1,000 degrees. Thank heavens for the slight wind that kept our thick Northern Utah skin from melting.
This is why we go on spontaneous getaways....sister chats
Brother bonding....
oh...and to get warm.
At the end of our hot, dusty hike when everyone was dying of thirst, I casually reminded Hailee and Christian about the Pioneer Trek coming up for them in July. He,he.
The St. George temple holds special meaning for me. I love that with all of the growth in and around St. George, it is still the heart of the city.
It is tradition that every trip we make to St. George we have to stop at the "crack." Jordan has found that it is a little tighter squeeze every time. This trip, the kids all placed wagers on whether or not their dad would be able to make it through. Jordan wasn't worried at all. He planned on making a quick $15.
This picture proves that Jordan did indeed emerge victorious...but not without incident. He got stuck. Really stuck. He had to shimmy, and shake and squeeze to get through. He said it didn't help that Christian was laughing uncontrollably or that there was a line of kids behind him anxious for him to get a move on. Only minor damage...a hole in his shirt pocket, scrapes on his belly and about 5 layers shaved off his belt. He said the $15 was totally NOT worth it. I will bet another $15 that he'll do it again next time we're here. He can't stand loosing a good bet.
Rock kings. (Don't think I wasn't having mini heart attacks watching them hop around up there.)
These girls are my favorite. I love being with them.
